Things to know
Base64 encoding inflates the data by roughly 33%, and an inlined image can't be cached separately by the browser — so this is right for small assets (icons, tiny logos, spacer graphics) and wrong for photos. Some email clients also cap total message size, which large inlined images blow through quickly.
